As winter’s chill fades into memory and the first hints of spring begin to blossom, I’m reminded of the journey my family and I have taken over the last few years—a journey that mirrors the transformation I envision for Tallapoosa. In November 2021, we purchased a home that had been left vacant and in disrepair for over three years. While many saw neglect, my wife Heather, our kids, and I saw untapped potential—a blank canvas ready to be transformed with love, hard work, and a vision for a better future.

Every spring, as the weather warms, we dive into a season of renewal. This year was no different. I still remember one Saturday, a bright day signaling the end of winter’s grasp, when Heather, the kids, and I set off to Ridley's Hardware store. With determination and excitement, we carefully picked out new supplies—fresh paint, gardening tools, and landscaping essentials—to breathe new life into our yard. The simple act of shopping for supplies was more than a chore; it was a ritual that symbolized our commitment to nurturing our home, step by step, season by season.
This personal transformation is a microcosm of what I believe Tallapoosa can achieve. Much like our home, our city has a storied past—a time when its small-town charm and vibrant community spirit made it a beacon of warmth and opportunity. However, just as our house needed time, care, and countless small victories to be restored, so too does Tallapoosa. Revitalization isn’t instantaneous; it is the result of persistent effort and a commitment to gradual, meaningful change.
Over the last few seasons, we have faced challenges—unexpected setbacks, long days of work, and moments of doubt—but each small win has brought us closer to the home we always dreamed of. Every stroke of paint, every new plant in our garden, is a testament to our belief that progress, however slow, is still progress. I see the same potential for growth in Tallapoosa. I believe that with careful planning, community collaboration, and transparent leadership, our city can regain its status as a vibrant, thriving small town.
As we prepare our yard for spring, we are not merely tending to a physical space; we are setting the stage for new opportunities. This process is symbolic. Just as the end of the cold winter months marks the beginning of a season of growth and renewal, so too does it signal a new chapter for Tallapoosa. Under my leadership as Mayor, I am committed to harnessing the energy and optimism of this season to drive forward initiatives that promote responsible growth, community involvement, and sustainable development.
The vision for Tallapoosa is one where every resident feels empowered to contribute to the city’s renaissance. It’s about creating spaces where families can thrive, local businesses can flourish, and our community spirit can shine through. Just as our home renovation took time, creativity, and a lot of heart, I know that rebuilding and revitalizing Tallapoosa will require many small steps. But every effort counts. Each project, each community meeting, and each new idea is a building block for the future—a future where Tallapoosa is once again a model of growth and prosperity.
This spring, as you see the first blooms of the Dogwoods emerging after a long winter, I invite all residents of Tallapoosa to join me in a collective effort to usher in a season of transformation. Let’s work together to create a community that not only remembers its proud history but is also excited about its future. Change does not happen overnight. It is built on small wins, persistent effort, and a shared vision for a brighter tomorrow.
I am proud to lead this journey, and I am honored to have the opportunity to work alongside each of you. Let’s welcome the spring with open arms, ready to sow the seeds of progress and nurture them into lasting, positive change. Together, we can transform our city into the vibrant, family-focused community it once was—and can be again.
Here’s to new beginnings, steady progress, and a future filled with promise for Tallapoosa.
