It’s time for new leadership that sees the full picture. Leadership that focuses on growth, revitalization, and responsible management of city-owned assets. Leadership that works to make every tax dollar count.

I’ve been talking with residents, business owners, and community leaders. I’ve listened to your frustrations and your hopes. The message is clear: people want real progress, not pricey renderings.

Good growth invests in residents first. It keeps property taxes fair. It celebrates our history instead of rewriting it. It invites businesses that serve the community, not just those that look good on a grant proposal. Tallapoosa doesn’t need to become “the next anything.”We just need to take care of our own.

Together, we can take the ideas that have sat on the shelf and finally turn them into results. Because Tallapoosa deserves leadership that doesn’t just say it’ll get done — but actually does it.

We might not be able to bring back Halloween on Head Avenue this year, but we can start planning for next year. Together, we can make it even better than before—by working with local businesses, churches, civic groups, and volunteers to line the street with pumpkins, music, and laughter once again. Imagine downtown filled with costumed kids, decorated storefronts, and families from all across West Georgia rediscovering the magic of Tallapoosa.

Like our parks, streets, and downtown, the golf course is an asset that belongs to the people of Tallapoosa. And just like those other assets, it deserves real attention from the Mayor and City Council.

Tallapoosa doesn’t just need to preserve its traditions — we need to grow them into opportunities. Our festivals and parades should be more than fun; they should be a core part of our economic strategy. With the right leadership, we can make sure every event, big or small, shines a spotlight on our community and keeps Tallapoosa thriving.

We don’t need to reinvent who we are. We just need to get back to what made us strong in the first place. That’s my vision: to honor the past by restoring the pride, accountability, and momentum that our community has been missing.

When leadership embraces this truth, Tallapoosa can shift from maintenance mode to growth mode. Instead of just patching holes, we can expand opportunities. Instead of raising taxes, we can bring in new revenue. Instead of asking families to carry the weight alone, we can build a city where everyone shares in the return on investment.

That vision is achievable—but only if the city decides that our people and our parks are worth investing in. Tallapoosa deserves better. Our citizens deserve better. And Helton Howland Park deserves to shine as the community jewel it was always meant to be.

Helton Howland Park should not be remembered as a story of neglect. It should be a shining example of what happens when a city chooses to invest—even modestly—in its people, its families, and its future.

Our residents and businesses deserve transparency and honesty from our elected officials. Abrupt policy shifts without clear, documented reasoning leave our community uncertain and suspicious of the motivations behind such changes.

If you’ve received a tax bill that feels impossible to manage, you are not alone. I strongly encourage everyone to explore the appeal process—your voice matters. We must also show up at public meetings, speak out, and support one another as neighbors.
